First Lady Summons Oshiomhole Over Shameful Remarks on Mrs. Obaseki

Date:

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has reportedly called in Senator Adams Oshiomhole over controversial comments he made about Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, the wife of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Oshiomhole’s remarks, which have been widely criticized, touched on Mrs. Obaseki’s inability to have children—a personal matter that many believe should not have been brought into political discussions.

Truthlive news learnt that a sources within Aso Rock disclosed this stating that the First Lady was deeply embarrassed and angered by Oshiomhole’s remarks.

“Senator Oluremi Tinubu was visibly angered when she found out about Oshiomhole’s remarks concerning Mrs. Obaseki,” one insider revealed.

“She was shocked that an experienced politician like Oshiomhole would make such insensitive remarks about a woman’s personal life. It’s an insult to decency and the values we should uphold in our political conversations,” the source added.

The First Lady, who is known for her strong advocacy on women’s issues and ethical conduct in politics, felt it necessary to address the matter directly.

The source continued, “Mrs. Tinubu does not support using personal tragedies or circumstances as political tools, and she wanted to make it clear to Oshiomhole that this behavior is unacceptable.”

The First Lady’s decision to summon Oshiomhole is seen as an effort to restore respect and decorum in Nigerian politics.

Another Aso Rock official, speaking anonymously, noted, “This isn’t just about Mrs. Obaseki; it’s about the broader impact of bringing personal issues into politics. Senator Tinubu has always believed in politics that focuses on ideas and development rather than personal attacks.”

Oshiomhole’s comments have been widely condemned by women’s groups and civil society organizations across the country. The remarks were made during an interview where Oshiomhole targeted Governor Obaseki and his wife, an action that many believe went beyond acceptable political discourse.
