Akwa Ibom Police Command Nab Man With Pistol And Wraps Of Hemp

Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested one Samuel Bassey Young, a native of Ikot Obong village for unlawful possession of firearms and substances suspected to be cannabis sativa.
According to a release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer ASP Timfon John, a Police Officer while on a routine stop and search at Ibiono Ibom area of the State intercepted a motorcycle rider conveying a passenger.
She explained that when the duo were stopped and searched an English Baretta Pistol with defaced breech number was found in the possession of the passenger.
And equally found on the suspect, was large quantities of weed suspected to be Cannabis sativa concealed in his rainboot. The Police spokesperson revealed that these items were all recovered and the suspect taken into custody.

Timfon John “Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed that the firearms belongs to one of his friends.
“Investigationn is ongoing to nab other members of the gang. Suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigation”.

She further stated that Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command CP Waheed Ayilara has reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment towards the continually making Akwa Ibom safe and secure, and urged residents to always report any suspicious persons or movement to the nearest police station.
It could be recalled that the CP few weeks ago paraded no fewer than 31 suspects for various offences ranging from murder, armed robbery, gun runner and kidnapping.
