Sit-at-home Enforcers Meet Their Waterloo

Date:

Troops of the Joint Task Force South-East, code-named “Operation UDO KA,” have neutralised two members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its affiliate, the Eastern Security Network, who were attempting to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order.

The troops, operating in conjunction with other security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy, Police, Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, neutralised members of the irredentist group on Monday, July 29.

This was contained in a statement released on the official Operation UDO KA platform on Tuesday in Enugu.

The statement noted that the patrol team spotted three Toyota Sienna vehicles and a Toyota Highlander approaching their position from the Ogboahia general area in Abia State.

According to the statement, the gallant troops pursued the group, leading to contact being made.

“During the encounter, two IPOB sit-at-home enforcers were neutralised, and one of their Sienna vehicles was burned.

“Follow-up operations and further exploitation led to the recovery of one Toyota Highlander, one Toyota Sienna, one Kodiak camera, a Tecno phone, and cutlasses.

“Intelligence reports indicate that, in addition to the illegally declared sit-at-home from July 29 to August 3, 2024, the terrorists plan to hijack the national protest to incite mayhem and havoc among the innocent residents of the South-East.

“All law-abiding citizens are urged to avoid being used as human shields by the terrorists,” the statement said.

It further noted that Operation UDO KA “is appealing to the good people of the South-East to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that will help eradicate criminals in the region.”

Residents of the South-East are encouraged to provide relevant information to Operation UDO KA by dialling *193* and pressing *Option 2* on their phones.

“The Joint Task Force South-East, through Operation UDO KA, will continue to fulfill its constitutional role of safeguarding lives and property, in line with global best practices and the rules of engagement guiding its operations,” it stated.
