President Tinubu Sought Senate Confirmation of Five Directors of CBN

President Bola Tinubu, has sought the Senate’s confirmation for five persons to be appointed as directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN).
The President’s request was contained in a letter read by the Senate President Godswill Akpabio last Tuesday.
The appointed board members of the apex bank are, Ado Wanga, Murtala Sagaley, From Eke and Olayinka Aliyu.
He said his request to the upper chambers was in compliance with the provisions of section 6 (a) of section 10 (1) (2) of the CBN Act.
The nomination of the directors for appointment, is coming on the heels of the ongoing investigations of CBN which has so far reveals deep-rooted corruption in the bank under the embattled former Governor Godwin Emefiele.
The former boss of CBN is currently standing trial for corruption, forgery and misappropriation of funds.
It could be recalled that the current CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso, last week Friday February 9, appeared before Members of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions to answer questions on the rising inflation, the foreign exchange and other issues affecting the economy of Nigeria.
