According to reports gathered from a newspaper, the wife of the slain Olukoro of Koro Ekiti in Kwara State, General Segun Aremu-Cole (retd), along with two others who were kidnapped during the monarch’s killing, have been freed.
As per the Kwara State-based newspaper, the king’s wife and the two individuals regained their freedom late on Monday night.
They reportedly arrived in Koro town around 10:45 pm on Monday.
Chief Samuel Ayobola, the Asiwaju of Koro, confirmed that, “The news just received from home confirms that Olori and the girl have been released and have returned to Koro.
All glory to God.”
The gunmen had raided the palace around 9 pm, firing shots indiscriminately. Following the assassination of the monarch, they abducted his wife and two others from the palace.
Among those taken was reportedly an adopted child of the late monarch and his wife.
Subsequently, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N100 million, which was later reduced to N40 million.
