Date:

The Osun State Muslim Community has cautioned the state government to be cautious in handling the issue of Inisa Central Mosque Imamship tussle.

OSMC appealed to the governor Adeleke not to interfere with the issue of Imam selection and installation.

It made the appeal in a communique issued after its January executive meeting.

The communiqué signed by OSMC President, Alhaj Mustafa Olawuyi and Secretary General, Alhaj Ganiyu Akeredolu was made available to journalists by OSMC Public Relations Officer, Prince Hameed Oyegbade.

According to the statement, “OSMC calls on the Osun State government to be cautious in handling matters concerning religion, particularly as it affects Imamship issues.

“That Government should be seen to safeguard and uphold democracy on matters that are in courts, respecting the separation of power between the Executives and the Judiciary, especially as it affects the Inisa Central Mosque issue with pending court order.”

OSMC also advises the State Government to make judicious use of the N2 billion already received by the state government from the Federal Government of Nigeria as palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidies removal on the masses, particularly the vulnerable residents, workers and pensioners before the Ramadan fasting, coming up early March, 2024.
