The Borno State government has approved the premise of Government Secondary School, Ville, as the temporary site for the take-off of newly established Federal College of Education, FCE,.
While granting the approval, yesterday, Sunday, in Gwoza community, Governor Babagana Zulum, lamented that the State had been without Federal Polytechnic and College of Education; until they were recently established by the Buhari administration.
“The College is sited at Ville in Gwoza, the council headquarters of Gwoza and a border community with Cameroon,” he said.
He noted that the new College, is the first of its kind, since the State was created about five decades ago.
Besides, he added: “Most of the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, each has a Federal University, Polytechnic and College of Education.
Zulum who had facilitated the take-off of a Federal Polytechnic sited in Monguno, did the same for the take-off of FCE, Gwoza.
He, therefore, directed the Ministry of Higher Education for the immediate rehabilitation of Government Secondary School, Ville.
“This will serve as a temporary site for the College to commence academic activities,” he said.
Zulum gave the approval during an assessment visit to the temporary College site, along the Gwoza-Mubi road.
He said the State government is complementing the efforts of the Federal Government by providing the necessary requirements to establish federal institutions to function effectively in the State.
