NDE TRAINS 50 YOUTHS TO BOOST YOBE FARMERS’ PRODUCTIVITY, INCOMES

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) trains 50 youths in attitudinal changes in their ‘knowledge, skills and habits’ to boost agricultural and livestock production in Yobe state.

According to the Directorate, the training is under the auspices of Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) to create more jobs among the unemployed youths.

Declaring the training workshop open, yesterday (Thursday), in Damaturu, the Director General of NDE, represented by the State Coordinator, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, disclosed: “The special advanced training was to improve participants’ attitudinal change in areas of knowledge, skills and habits in the agriculture and livestock sectors.”

Besides, she added that NDE’s training scheme could also create more wealth and engagements of youths to fight poverty and unemployment among them.

According to her, the 50 participants were selected from last year’s graduated scheme.

“They will be taken through by resource persons on State government’s agricultural policies and their impacts on employment creation, improved seeds, pest control and agricultural inputs,” she said, noting that they will boost farmers’ and herders’ productivity and incomes in the state.

She, therefore, assured that the gains from training could help the participants transform their livelihoods for Yobe’s economic growth and development.
