Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has distributed 312 tractors and 3,000 metric tons of fertilizers to farmers at subsidized rates.
According to him, the tractors and the NPK fertilizers; are sold to farmers at 50 and 25 per cent subsidy respectively.
While flagging off the distribution of farm inputs, yesterday (Wednesday), in Maiduguri, the Governor disclosed: “The procurement and distribution of tractors fertilizers are in fulfillment of our electioneering campaign pledges to the electorate.”
He said that each of the 27 Local Councils, is to get five tractors, while the 312 wards have been each allocated with tractor.
Explaining that; “The distributed tractors are coupled with disc harrows and ploughs to till and prepare farmlands for the 2023 cropping season.”
On the farmers’ repayments of tractors, he said that the other 50 per cent costs price; are to be paid to the State government in five years.
