Yobe State Governor, Mai Mal Buni is to inaugurate Permanent Secretaries, Commissions’ chairmen and 17 council caretaker committees to prevent leadership vacuums at the state and council levels.
According to him, the inauguration of secretaries and council committees was to prevent leadership vacuums at the state and council levels.
Unveiling the seven-day programmes of activities, at the weekend (Saturday), in Damaturu, the Chairman of the media and publicity sub-committee, Mohammed Lamin, disclosed: “We’ve resolved to organise the swearing in ceremony of the Governor and his deputy, Idi Gubana at the August 27th Stadium, Damaturu.”
He said this was contrary to what happened on May 29, 2019, when Buni and his Deputy took their oaths of office at the Government House banquet hall.
“The sub-committee’s decision of holding the inauguration ceremony at an open arena; was resolved by the main inaugural committee,” he said, noting that the people of Yobe state are proud of the achievements recorded by Buni in the last four years.
He said the recorded achievements in the health, education, agriculture and infrastructural facilities sectors; were despite of the challenges of insecurity to lives and property.
Lamin, who doubles as the Commissioner of Information, said that the inauguration activities commence on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 with the swearing in of Permanent Secretaries, Chairmen of commissions and permanent board members at the Government House, WAWA hall.
He added that there will be also a valedictory session of the State Executive Council (SEC) at the council chambers.
On Thursday, May 25, The Ministry of Wealth Creation and State’s Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) will distribute empowerment materials to unemployed youths and women at the Government House.
While on the same day, there will be prayers at mosques across the State with the submission of a report by the State Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy.
Continued; “No less than 356 orphans and 178 widows are to be empowered on Saturday, May 27, at the Government House, event centre.
Lamin added that on Saturday, Buni will launch the State’s Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (EMAS) at the same event centre.
According to him, there will be an inaugural lecture, dinner and gala night at the Banquet Hall on Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Besides this week’s programmes of activities, Buni and his Deputy, Gubana will be sworn in by the Chief Judge, Justice Gumna Kashim Kaigama on May 29, 2023, at the Stadium.
“There will be a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Bukarti-Toshiya 18-kilometre and Dumburi-Masafa roads on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively next week,” he said.
He said that Buni has pledged to improve on his performances, based on the continuity, consolidation and innovation agenda of the State for economic growth and development.
