Zulum Upgrades General Hospital To Specialists Hospital In Gwoza

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has upgraded the Gwoza general hospital to a Specialist Hospital in Gwoza border town with Cameroon.

The upgraded hospital will be equipped with engagement of consultants in various specialized areas of medical needs.

Unveiling the expansion of the hospital, over the weekend (Sunday) in Gwoza, the Governor disclosed: “This hospital will undergo expansion and equipping with medical facilities.

“Consultants in different areas of specialization; are to be employed to meet the health and medical requirements of the people in Gwoza and border areas with Cameroon.”

Besides the Specialists Hospital, he added that a new College of Nursing will be sited in Gwoza, the council headquarters.

He said the College will be completed in the first six months of his second tenure, if he is re-elected for the second term on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).

“The State government will train residents of Gwoza,” he said, as well as the neighbouring communities to be professionals in public health, nursing, midwifery and other courses.

He added that the completion of the College will enable the people afford healthcare delivery services in the Local Council and border communities with Cameroon.

He noted that the Specialists Hospital will serve as a reference hospital for the College of Nursing.

Meanwhile, Zulum also led stakeholders of APC, to a campaign rally at the emir of Gwoza’s palace, amid mammoth crowd of party supporters.

Zulum addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters who trooped to the premises of the emir’s palace where the rally was held.

While listing several completed projects in the Local Council, he pledged to establish a Higher Islamic College.

He said that his administration will prioritize the empowerment of youths and women to restore their livelihoods destroyed in the 13-year Boko Haram insurgency.

According to him, the completion Islamic College will enable students from Tsangaya to qualify for admission for diplomas.

“The Diploma certificates will students eligible for admissions to Universities and other tertiary institutions,” he said.

He also urged the people to vote for APC candidates as they did in previous elections.

The APC campaign rally in Gwoza was attended by the party State Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume, Ahmad Jaha, representing Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza federal constituency and Director General, National Centre for Women Development, Asabe Vilita Bashir.
