Members of a faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Ikosi/Isheri LCDA on Wednesday protested to the Lagos State House of Assembly over alleged anti-party activities engaged in by the Chairman of Council, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada.
Otunba Oluwaseyi Abiodun who led the protesters to the House of Assembly alleged that the chairman also uses public funds to bankroll the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) electioneering activities through her husband in Ogun State.
“With reference to the above subject matter, we the undersigned write to report and seek the urgent intervention over anti-party activities and the use of our hard-earned public funds to bankroll opposition party activities in Ogun State by our Ikosi-Isheri LCDA chairperson, Princess Samiat Bada.
“It has come to our knowledge that our LCDA chairperson, Princess Samiat Bada, is engaged in anti-party activities against the APC and has been misappropriating Ikosi-Isheri funds for this purpose,” an accompanying complaint stated.
“We have it on good authority that Hon. Samiat placed her husband Hon. Tola Banjo on a monthly salary to the tune of N2,500,000 and also placed her immediate sister, Mrs. Toyibat Balogun, on a monthly salary to a tune of 800,000,” the protesters added.
Otunba Abiodun said that these alleged issues had generated a lot of fracas between the two groups within the party to the extent that they earlier complained to two members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) in Kosofe constituency, Otunba Bushura Alebiosu and Prince Tajudeen Olusi.
A meeting to look into the issues was deliberated upon but he said the meeting never held.
Hon. Bisi Yusuff, who received the protesters on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, commended them for their peaceful manner they conducted themselves.
He also urged them to remain calm as the House would look into the petition presented before it and get back to them.
Hon. Yusuff advised them to continue being peaceful so that their action would not be hijacked by hoodlums who could seize the opportunity to disrupt activities and cause mayhem in the Ikosi-Isheri area of the State.
