Troops of 151 Task Force Battalion, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in a joint operation with Civilian JTF have killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists in the Banki-Bama axis of Borno state.
The insurgents were neutralized when the troops engaged them in an aggressive fierce battle on October 30, 2022 at the Gauri village hideout.
A counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, stated yesterday, (Tuesday), in Maiduguri that; “The troops intercepted the terrorists and killed some of them, while others fled with gunshot wounds towards Sambisa Forest.
According to him, the forest was a hideout for the terrorists who prepared to attack nearby troops positions.
Besides the attack, he added that some of the terrorists use the locations to concealed rustled livestock, including cattle and sheep.
He explained that the troops’ fighting patrol operations paid off as the terrorists were taking unaware.
“More than 15 of them were instantly killed,” he said, stating that were however forced to withdraw in large number, abandoning the rustled cattle.
He added that the terrorists who escaped; immediately called for reinforcement as the gallant troops continued to engage them from different forest routes.
“The troops killed seven terrorists, but they lost two gallant soldiers,” he said, noting that five personnel sustained injuries while pursuing the fleeing insurgents.
Meanwhile, troops of 21 Armoured Brigade have intensified attacks against the Boko Haram fighters in the axis.
