Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has directed Hauwa Abubakar to oversee the Ministry of Justice pending the appointment of a substantive Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice.
Hauwa, is the current Special Adviser to the Governor on legal affairs in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Usman Jidda Shuwa, yesterday (Sunday), in Maiduguri, disclosed: “The directive to oversee the Ministry of Justice, followed the resignation of the former Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kaka Shehu Lawan,” stating that Lawan emerged the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate on July 22, 2022 to contest the 2023 general elections in Borno Central District.
According to him, the appointment of Hauwa takes effect today (Monday) to assume duties in the Ministry of Justice.
On the responsibilities of the new appointee, he said: “As the Chief Executive of the Ministry and Chief Law Officer of the State, you are expected to advice Government on all legal matters,” adding that she will work assiduously towards the achievements of governmental goals.
“We also expect you to work closely with the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary who is the accounting officer.”
