Buni Distributes Farm Inputs To 500 Yobe Household Farmers

Date:

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has distributed various farm inputs to 500 household farmers.

According to him, the distribution was part of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the State government livelihoods recovery projects.

The 13-year insurgency has killed about 40, 000 people with destruction of property worth $9.2 billion (N3.42 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.

Unveiling the distribution, yesterday (Tuesday), at Jajere town, Executive Secretary of the State’s Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, who represented the Governor, disclosed: “The farmers were targeted under the Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) through community based livelihoods restoration.”

Besides, he added that the farm inputs include knapsack sprayers, liquid fertilizers, cartons of herbicides and improved seeds of beans and sorghum.

“For the protection of farmers, hand gloves and facemasks were also distributed to the targeted farmers,” he said.

The farmers comprising males and females, were also trained by ADP on the application of herbicides and pesticides to increase their productivity and incomes.

Responding, Adamu Muhammadu, a rice farmer commended the Buni administration for including the community into the livelihood restoration project.

He, therefore, prayed for sustainable peace with bumper harvests this year in the state.
