Army Rescue Two More Chibok Girls In Borno

Date:

The Theatre Commander, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa has said that two more girls kidnapped on April 14, 2014 from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

Two hundred and seventy six school girls were abducted by Boko Haram terrorists, while they were writing their national examinations.

Confirming the rescue, yesterday (Wednesday), in Maiduguri, Musa disclosed that the rescued girls include Hanatu Musa and Kauna Luka.

According to him, the two girls were found by troops of 21 Armoured Brigade in Bama Council of Borno state on July 26, 2022.

“These girls were rescued after spending about eight years in captivity of Boko Haram insurgents,” said the Commander.

He explained that the girls escaped from Gazuwa camp, an acclaimed headquarters of Boko Haram faction controlling Gabchari, Mantari and Mallum communities, nine kilometres from Bama.

According to military sources, there are 20 more Chibok girls that are forcefully married to terrorists in the Gazuwa camp.

“The girls’ voluntary escape was, however, as a result of the massive sustained offensives by the troops of Operation Hadin Kai,” adding that this resulted into hunger and displacement in terrorists’ various hideouts.
