The new Theatre Commander of Operations Hadin Kai (OPHK), Maj-Gen. Christopher Musa has tasked troops to end Boko Haram insurgency that claimed many lives and property in the Northeast.
Musa gave the tasks Friday, while taking over from the outgoing Commander, Maj-Gen. Felix Omoigui at the Military Command and Control Centre, Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. He said that with the commitments and hard work of troops, the war against Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists will soon come to an end. He attributed ending the war to the recent deployment of procured fighting weapons and arms to frontlines of Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region.
While addressing the troops, Omoigui said: “I’ve worked with you for the past one year and all of you have been assessed as hardworking in the front lines. “This is what I want you to keep up with. Continue to maintain your vigilance and alertness. “Keep up with the good work,” warning that the troops should also not relent in the fight against insurgency. Continuing, he added: “As I leave you today (Friday) I’m going to stay in touch and pray for all of you,” stressing that the war in the Northeast must be won.
He said that the troops must be prepared to end the Boko Haram war. According to him, the President, the Chief of Defense Staff, Maj-Gen. Lucky Irabor and all the Service Chiefs have provided enough for the troops to end the fight. He said that with troops’ determination and discipline; the war against terrorists will end in restoring peace in the region. “As I leave this theatre command I’ve a successor, who I’ve just handed over to,” noting that the cooperation the troops have extended to him is also done to Musa. He said that if troops cooperate with their new Commander, they will not have problems fighting the terrorists.
