The Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe state council of traditional rulers; Dr. Muhammad Ibn Abali Idrissa has tasked parents and community leaders to embrace peace and tolerance. According to him, parents and guardians should also adopt the monitoring mechanisms of their children and wards regularly. The monarch gave the tasks Thursday in his Sallah message in Potiskum to mark the two-day Eid-el-Fitr celebration. “The people should continue to embrace peace and tolerance among the various communities,” he said, warning that they are to shun all acts of violence that could endanger people’s lives and property. He therefore; called on the people to be vigilant of strange movements of suspicious persons or groups in their communities. According to him; “Let’s always know who is living among us in order to overcome the security challenges facing the nation.” He charged the people in authority to continue to be just and fair, while discharging their respective responsibilities to humanity.
“May God give them the strength of steering the affairs of the Country and State especially to alleviate people’s sufferings amid COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. While appealing to the people, he said: “You should continue to exercise patience with the current economic situation in the country.“Let’s collectively pray for the improvement of living conditions of people,” he said, adding that parents should also be responsible for upbringing their children with morals and respect for constituted authority. On the COVID-19 protocols, he said: “We also want to remind our people that COVID-19 is not yet over. The pandemic is still with us,” urging that the people should continue to adhere strictly to the preventative measures; including social distancing, regular hand washing and wear of face masks.
