Zulum to engage 2,000 automobile mechanics in Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; is to engage 2,000 automobile
mechanics by empowering them set up their workshops.
The workshops are to be sited in six villages of Maiduguri, the state capital.
According to him, auto mechanics for the empowerment programme, are
drawn from state branch of Nigeria Automobile Technical Association
(NATA).
While meeting with members of NATA Wednesday in Maiduguri, he
disclosed that; “this administration will also established a mechanic
village and training centre for all your members,” adding that they
could facilitate them acquire more skills in modern automobile repairs
and maintenances.
He said the establishment of six auto-repair workshops; and training
centre, are to enable mechanics cope with “emerging technological
demands” in auto repairs and maintenances.
While commending mechanics for their support and cooperation to his
administration, he said: “You’re also to continue pray and fast, until
peace is restored in this state.”
He also identified some elderly mechanics during the meeting,
including the ones he had been patronizing for over two decades.
“I pledged to support all of you here today (Wednesday) to acquire
more skills and training under Mechanics Empowerment Programme
(MEEP),” he said.
In his brief remarks, NATA State Chairman, Hussaini Musa, said the
visit to the Government House, was to appreciate the governor for his
performance in transforming the various sectors of the economy.
He therefore, urged the Zulum to consider members of the association
in various empowerment programmes.
He said that Internet and Computer Training (ICT) could enable
mechanics meet current challenges in automobile repairs and
maintenances
