Explosives Kill A Soldier, Wound Two Others In Borno

An Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) of Boko Haram suspects; has on
Monday killed a soldier with the wounding of two others at Mainok,
Borno state.
The troops were returning from an operation, when one of patrol
vehicles runs over planted IEDs along Maiduguri/Damaturu road.
Confirming the incident Tuesday in Maiduguri, Modu Abba (not real
name) of Civilian JTF disclosed: “increased activities of insurgents
in Mainok/Jakana axis, enable them plant explosives along this road,”
noting that it was very unfortunate for soldiers to have run over
planted explosives.
He said with the neutralization of over 1, 000 terrorists, the
surviving ones attack military posts; along with the planting of IEDs
along roads that intercepts Boko Haram crossing points in Borno and
Yobe states.
While lamenting incessant attacks, residents of Mainok also yesterday
(Tuesday) said: “We saw soldiers evacuating the corpse of their
colleague and the injured.
“It is very unfortunate. We have to keep on praying for our soldiers.”
adding that it not easy protecting lives and property along roads.
Similarly, there was also reported attack in Gubio town of Gubio
council by suspected insurgents.
A resident of Gubio, Kabiru Modu told The Guardian that insurgents now
target military posts and other locations in the theatre war.
It is not easy.” Kabiru, a member of the CJTF in the area told DAILY
POST in Maiduguri.
According to him, the superior firing power of troops enables repelled
terrorists to restore normalcy in Gubio.
“This security situation in our community is under control sir,” he said.
