GOVERNOR DICKSON APPOINTS ACTING HEAD OF SERVICE

His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has approved the appointment of an Acting Head of the Service.

He is Mr. Luca Wellington Obiri, mni, whose appointment takes immediate effect.

The new Acting Head of Service, who served as Permanent Secretary, General Services in the office of the SSG is required to round up the reforms in the public service within the next six months.

The reforms without doubt has yielded tremendous results, particularly in deepening and strengthening the public service and producing a disciplined and dedicated workforce with over N500m monthly savings recorded in wage bill.

Mr. Obiri’s appointment follows the voluntary retirement ofReverend Thomas Zidafamor, which has been accepted by the Governor.

A Government statement thanked the immediate past Head of Service for his meritorious service to the Government and people of the State and wished him well in all his future endeavours.

In another development, His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, the Governor of Bayelsa State has also approved the voluntary retirement of the following Permanent Secretaries:

1.    Dr. Promise Ekio

2.    Engineer Prekake Gede

3.    Dr. (Mrs) Debian Opukiri

The Governor also thanked the retiring permanent secretaries for their services to the State and equally wished them well.

Furthermore, the Governor has directed the Ag. Head of Service and Chairman of the Civil Service Commission to forward the names of eligible Directors in the Service for consideration, as permanent Secretaries in the service.

This is intended to inject new blood into the top hierarchy of the civil service.
