Arsenal kicked off their new Premier League season losing 2-0 at home to Man City, while Unai Emery began life in England with problems at left-back.
Just before the season started, it was confirmed that Sead Kolasinac has been ruled out for 8-10 weeks with an injury.
Nacho Monreal was also injured for the Man City game.
That meant that Ainsley Maitland-Niles was picked in the left-back slot against the Sky Blues. However Maitland-Niles was forced out the game in the first half through injury.
This weekend Arsenal head to Chelsea for a London derby.
Will the Gunners open the new year with successive defeats?
In a boost for the Gunners, picture evidence on Wednesday confirmed that Monreal has now returned to training.

Arsenal fans will have to wait to see if the Spanish defender is fit to start at Chelsea.
If Monreal is deemed unfit for the Chelsea match, Stephan Lichtsteiner could start in the full-back slot instead.
Sadly it’s now been confirmed that Maitland-Niles will be out of action for several weeks.
#afc confirm Maitland-Niles has suffered a “small fracture to his left fibula and will be out for six to eight weeks”. Monreal in full training so eases left-back problem against #cfc. Welbeck also available. Jenkinson, already surplus to requirements, out for 6-8 weeks (ankle).
