The Borno State Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu has yesterday confirmed the killing of two female suicide bombers that attempted to attack Alikaramanti village of Giwa Barracks; on Wednesday by 8.25pm in Maiduguri. Residents of Fori, Jiddari Polo and Lawanti communities of Maiduguri metropolis were also frightened by deafening explosions from two separate Improvised Explosion Devices (IEDs) strapped on suicide bombers’ bodies. Chukwu disclosed this on Thursday in a statement of Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji and issued to journalists in Maiduguri. According to Kwaji; “On Wednesday, March 13, 2018 at about 2025 hrs two Female suicide bombers in an attempt to infiltrate into Alikaramanti area, after Giwa Barracks were intercepted by security operatives on duty. The suspects hurriedly detonated their IEDs strapped to their bodies killing themselves and injuring nine others. “Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) team was immediately mobilized to the scene, and has rendered the affected areas and village safe for normalcy.” Kwaji in the statement also said that the bodies and injured people were evacuated to the hospital for deposition and treatment.
