Police confirm killing of 16 people in Borno suicie attacks

The Borno State Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu has said that 16
people were killed in Konduga town of Borno state, when three
suspected suicide bombers attacked a livestock market by detonating
their strapped Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) on Tuesday by
5.30pm.

The triple markets blasts also injured 82 traders and passers bye and
taken to Maiduguri hospital for treatment.
Chukwu disclosed this on Wednesday in a text message sent to The
Guardian, confirming that 16 people were killed and not 27; as
reported in other media on Tuesday night.

Konduga council headquarters had been attacked by Boko Haram
insurgents for over two dozen times to infiltrate Maiduguri
metropolis, 40 kilometres from the state capital.
He said the triple bomb blasts occurred at a livestock market at about
5: 30 pm Tuesday when three suspected suicide bombers detonated their
strapped explosives.
“Sixteen people were killed in a separate suicide bomb attacks on
Tuesday in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state. The report we
receive there also indicated the wounding of 82 people.

“The suicide bombers comprise a male and two females detonated their
explosives at the busy market. They blew up themselves and killed 16
people on the spot,” said Chukwu in the text message.
He said 82 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries in the
attack, adding that the wounded were evacuated to State’s Specialists
Hospital, Maiduguri
He said the police has deployed personnel of the  Explosives Ordinance
Department (EOD) to sanitize the affect area.
