Praise GOD

As we approach the yuletide festivities, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun., Ph.D., NPM., has assured the good citizens of Nigeria of the emplacement of intensive security measures to ensure the safety and protection of lives and property, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report. To this effect, the IGP has directed the immediate deployment of adequate personnel to strategic locations, key areas and identified hotspots across all states, an initiative aimed at curbing traffic, highway robberies, and other criminal activities during this period of increased-mobility, public gatherings and celebrations.

The IGP’s directive includes the mobilization of police officers to highways, major roads, urban centres, and recreational centres nationwide. Officers will be strategically positioned to deter crimes via increased police presence and visibility on major highways and roads prone to criminal activities, particularly highway robberies, which tend to spike during festive seasons.

In line with the IGP’s commitment to ensuring public safety, the Nigeria Police Force has already made significant headway in combating these crimes. On the 10th of December 2024, police operatives attached to the Lagos State Command arrested 4 suspected robbers identified as Akeem Alabi ‘m’, Adewale Sogbesan ‘m’, Emmanuel Izeagbe ‘m’, and Francis Okoko ‘m’. Upon his arrest and subsequent interrogation, the suspect led the operatives to his apartment, where during a search, 3 Ak-47 rifles were recovered.

The Nigeria Police Force stands firm in its commitment to providing a safe environment during and beyond the Yuletide season. With ongoing proactive measures, including enhanced patrols, community engagement, and a specific focus on public safety, the Force is dedicated to ensuring that the festive season is celebrated without the shadow of crimes. While urging citizens to cooperate with heightened police presence which promises to be professional and law-abiding, the IGP further encourages citizens to remain vigilant and report all suspicious activities to the Police and other law enforcement agencies.

Ogunsan Advocates People-oriented Policing For Security And Development In Africa

CDS General Musa, former CNS Gambo, Others Attend Security Watch Conference in Doha, Qatar

By Oki Samson

Praise GOD

The Board Member of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan has advocated for an Africa-wide policing ideal which is built around and focused on the people of Africa. This policy, Ogunsan, noted is germane to the security and development of Africa. He spoke on the discussion theme ‘Emplacement of People-Oriented Policing for Security and Development in Africa’, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.

Dr. Ayo Ogunsan who is also the Chairman of the Police Campaign against Cultism and other Vices (POCACOV) in Lagos State gave his submission at the 18th Africa Security Watch Conference which is currently going on in Doha, Qatar. Ogunsan’s inclusion as a subject matter expert highlights his notable contributions to security and community development in Nigeria and reinforces his commitment to fostering collaborative solutions to Africa’s security challenges.

Other distinguished speakers at the conference are Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa; Nigeria’s immediate past Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo rtd; Prof. Henri Fouche among others.

This year’s conference is themed ‘Developing Module for People-Centric Governance Towards Enhancement of Peace and Security’ seeks to tackle Africa’s most pressing security challenges by proposing actionable solutions for peace and stability.

Making a strong case for an Africa-wide policing system designed around the African people, the Chairman/CEO of Executive Group, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan noted that a people-centred policing system is critical to fostering trust, legitimacy, and cooperation between the Police and the communities they serve. ‘When we adopt people-oriented policing in Africa, our governments will be able to critically focus and address the root of national and continental insecurity such as poverty, ignorance, and inequality.’

‘Our Police officers will need to be trained and retrained to see the people that they serve as allies not as adversaries. The people also need to see the police officers as members of the same community from where the officers were enlisted and will return after retirement. There is a need for robust collaboration with local leaders, traditional institutions, community-based associations, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure sociopolitical and economic security. that contribute to insecurity.’

‘We require the support of international partners to provide technical assistance, training expertise, and material resources to make people-centred policing system in Africa.’

‘African governments would need to support knowledge sharing and community-based initiatives, promote accountability and transparency, and foster cooperation at the subregional levels such as ECOWAS, ECCAS, SADC, and at the continental body, African Union (AU). This is how to entrench an Africa that is safe, secure, and set on development.’

The ongoing 18th Africa Security Watch Awards and Conference is jointly organised by Security Watch Africa Initiatives and Stellenbosch University, South Africa. The event will also feature the Africa Security Watch Awards, which recognise outstanding individuals and organizations for their excellence and innovation in promoting security across the continent.

Genesis Global Mother of Harvest of Turning Point to Donate Food Items to the Needy

… Benefit Packages for Widows, Widowers
… Praise Altar Hallel Night to Feature 20 Gospel Artists in Live Performance

~By Oluwaseun Fabiyi

Praise GOD

The Genesis Global 2024 harvest of turning point has arrived, promising to be an outstanding harvest among others, with the harvest committee, led by the popular Prophet of GOD, Israel Oladele Ogundipe, announcing the program schedule for a remarkable harvest of turning point

Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, fondly referred to as Genesis, is a highly esteemed and prominent prophet of GOD, whose significant contributions have positively impacted the Christian community in Nigeria, Africa, Europe, and specific regions within Nigeria, where he has consistently demonstrated exceptional kindness towards community development

Undeniably, Genesis Global’s annual Harvest has been a standout occasion, remarkable and exceptional in every way, and this year’s annual Harvest of turning point is anticipated to surpass all expectations, being the most memorable event so far

Only someone who is uncertain would still not believe the outcome of the Harvest of Turning Point and the large audience that would gather at Genesis Global Headquarters, located in Duro Ishola Street, off Egbado road Dalemo Alakuko Street, Lagos

Recall the magnificent program Genesis, the prophetic seer, organized a few months back. Tagged the Abeokuta Prophetic Invasion, it attracted over 10,000 worshipers from Ogun and Lagos States. The most astonishing aspect of the 3-day program was that the easy-going prophet of GOD did not request offerings, tithes, or seeds of offering

If such an invasion could be the talk of the town within Ogun and Lagos State, people will begin to wonder how the 2024 harvest of turning point will look like with visitors coming from far countries like the USA, France, UK, Germany, and even from the Presidency, demonstrating the positive impact of Prophet Genesis Israel Oladele Ogundipe on nation-building

As of the time this report was prepared, Oluwaseun Fabiyi, publisher of BethNews Media and media aide to Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, attests that luxury hotels in Sango Otta, Abule Egba, Iyana Ipaja, and the Alakuko area have been fully booked for this event, with more people still flocking in

The 2024 annual Genesis Global Harvest of turning point will officially commence on Monday, the 9th of December, featuring Israel Oladele Foundation’s complimentary medical screening, including blood pressure, sugar level, eyes, malaria, and thyroid screening, alongside various church midweek activities running through Thursday

The Israel Oladele Foundation is set to launch its food banking initiative on Friday, 13th of December, targeting the less privileged, including some widows and widowers, with empowerment programs to promote their welfare, aligning with Genesis Global’s mission. As the evening of that Friday approaches, a powerful praise night, tagged ‘Hallel Night‘, will take place at the Dominion City ground, located at Duro Ishola Street, off Dalemo Alakuko, Lagos State. However, it is an understatement to say that the Dominion City grounds can accommodate over 20,000 worshippers from various denominations across countries

The ‘Hallel Night‘ of praise is an annual event, part of the Genesis Global Harvest, demonstrating the Church’s and its members’ deep appreciation to the living GOD, the ultimate FATHER of the Harvest. Notable gospel artists, including Mega 99, Dare Justified, Big Bolaji, BBO, Chigozie Wisdom, Segun Johnson, Image, Dare Oxygen, Moses Harmony, Engovisions, Joshua Israel, Ebunoluwa Sings, Olamilekan, and others, are fully prepared to lead quality worship and praises to the King of glory

The Hallel Night Praise Altar is set to begin at 9pm sharp and continue until morning, offering a wonderful, fascinating and outstanding time of praise dedicated to God’s glory

Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe encourages all attendees to be adequately prepared to establish their personal praise altars during the forthcoming Friday Hallel Night, as lavish blessings will emanate from the praises, resulting in remarkable healings, including the lame regaining mobility and the blind receiving sight

The grand finale of this event is scheduled for Sunday, 15th of December 2024, where thousands of worshipers will assemble inside the church auditorium at Genesis Global Headquarters, located at Duro Ishola Street, off Egbado Road, Dalemo Alakuko Street, Lagos, for a special harvest of thanksgiving, during which some respected and great anointed men of GOD will prophesy into the lives of those in attendance

That particular Sunday promises to be exciting as Mega 99, a prominent gospel musician, takes the stage to mesmerize the audience with his soulful voice and energetic dance steps amidst a host of other engaging activities.

Additional information will be forthcoming as the event progresses

London- A Short GMT Global Story

He remembered many lying about their countries of origin so they won’t be deported to Nigeria

Praise GOD

Kalu’s Story

Kalu’s heart was in his throat all through the journey from Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos to Heathrow Airport in London. Climbing down the stairs on the plane, the panic in his chest turned up a notch and he could feel his chest clench. It was as if the airport’s air conditioning were not working as he could feel his clothes drenched in cold sweat. He wiped of his brows with the back of his hands as he walked towards the terminal

He remembered hosting his friends to a goodbye party and he started wondering if he had committed a blunder doing so as he thought of people refusing to tell their friends and relatives about their plans for the fear of the plans getting thwarted. His feet glued to the tarmac until a lady who had been on the same flight with him walked up to him.

Scared?” The beautiful voice asked him.
No. It’s the jetlag.” He lied.

First time flying?”
“Yeah
.” he lied again.

No wonder. You will get used to it.”
He sighed as she nudged him into moving. He felt like telling her the truth but he felt like he barely knew her and all the women he had known except his mother had always been out to extort him. Walking into the Customs’ terminal, he saw one of his worst fears play out.

He saw a passenger on one of the earlier flights in cuffs, awaiting deportation. He could remember the guy as he had been the loudest in the airport during their wait. The man had shown a terrible personality towards the passengers and the airport staff. Kalu remembered how he had boasted of having nothing to come back to Nigeria for as he had ensured that he sold all his properties before the trip.

One part of him felt pity for him based on the stigma and shame that would be waiting for him once he got back to Nigeria. Kalu remembered one of his uncles who had gotten deported after his oyibo wife had called the cops on him after she discovered that he had a family in Nigeria. The saving grace he had was that he was generous to his family members. They welcomed him and they gave him succor but outsiders were not so nice to him as they made jest of him at every turn. He became a joke in his Umu Nna.

Another part of Kalu concluded that he had received his comeuppance and that his village people had caught up with him due to his boisterous nature.

At that point, all that was on Kalu’s mind were the worst thoughts possible. He went to the baggage and picked his bag from the lot. His mind started playing the scenario that he might have been an unwilling drug mule and someone might have planted drugs in his bag. He managed to strike the thoughts from his mind but the more he advanced, the more his mind flashed back to one of the worst memories ever.

Birth in Brazil

He remembered paying a mule to traffic him through the Sahara route. He could recollect how many of his cohorts died in the Sahara without getting proper burial. The things he had seen put the fear of GOD and the fear of man in him. He remembered barely surviving the Spanish assault on their boat. He was arrested and was deported to Nigeria. He remembered many lying about their countries of origin so they won’t be deported to Nigeria. He had told the truth because he knew he had family who would not judge him. Instead, they would welcome him like the prodigal son that he was. He had decided to travel out of faux desperation and the urge to be his own man.

On getting to the Custom’s, they checked his load and nothing was found. He proceeded to the checkpoint where the attendant took an extra interest in his passport.

Kalu Muoka?’ she asked with some interest in her voice.
Yes,’ he answered with fear in his voice.
Where in Nigeria did you attend your primary school?’
‘Iju area in Lagos’
‘Debo?

Kalu’s eyes widened in awe as the recognition set in. The lady had been his classmate with whom he had lost contact with since they finished their primary education. The attendant stamped his passport after confirming his visa.

I get off in an hour. Wait for me. Go to the bar by the left and make yourself comfortable. I will be with you after.’

In that instant, all his fear vanished in an instant and the only thing that could play in his head was his discussion with his best friend, Ikechukwu.

Flashback
‘Guy, I can’t use those travel agencies. They are scammers,’ Kalu blurted out.
‘Sure, majority of them are but not GMT Global’ Ike countered.
They are all the same.’
‘You remember my cousin, Mary?’
‘The one you refused to let me date?’
“Of course. She used GMT and within a few years, she has been naturalized without even getting married”
‘How did she get that done?’
‘GMT’s work does not end after leaving the country. They help with settling down over there too
.’

Kalu was brought back to the present by a Caucasian waiter who stared at him curiously.
What can I get you?’ She asked again.
Coke’ he managed to respond after weighing all the options in his mind. He would have preferred a beer or liquor but he wanted to be in charge of his thinking faculty.
Moments later, he was standing face to face with the attendant from the processing stand.
Now. You have 25 years worth of gist to give me

Fake doctor who used friend’s certificate to secure appointment jailed

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has secured the conviction of  Martins Ugwu who impersonated and used the certificate of his ‘best friend’ to secure a job at the Federal Ministry of Health.

ICPC had in February 2016 filed  seven counts before Justice Abubakar Idris Kutigi, against Ugwu.

He was charged for making false statement to the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, through which he secured employment into the Federal Ministry of Health, in 2006.

The Commission said the offence contravened Section 25 (1) (a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Act, 2000 and punishable under Section 25 (1) (b) of the same act

The convict, according to the ICPC, also drew salaries and allowances up to N17.2 million between 2006 and 2016, after working for about ten years as a medical doctor at the Federal Ministry of Health with the fake documents.

Ugwu also used the fake documents to procure a staff identity card bearing the name of Dr. George Daniel Davidson, apply for annual leave as well as a post graduate training programme which would have conferred on him, a Master’s degree in the Field of Epidemiology Practice.
