Lady murdered by gospel singer was a corps member in Abuja, graduated from Kogi Varsity

Until her life was cut short in a tragic circumstance, Salome Eleojo Adaidu was a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving at Nicon Insurance in Abuja.

The 24-year-old graduate of Library and Information Science from Kogi State University had left her family members at home saying she was going to visit a friend. But her pictures went viral after Timileyin Ajayi, a so-called gospel singer, was arrested with a human head which was dripping blood.

Salome was murdered when she visited Ajayi at his house in New Karshi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. The suspect had boarded a bike from Karshi to Orozo where he planned to dispose the head before he was nabbed.

In an interview with PUNCH, the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, Caleb Umaru, explained that a member had noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river.

Umaru was quoted to have said, “It was just before the end of the service, around 11 a.m., during the final pledge and prayers. A church member, Brother Victor, opened his eyes during the prayers and noticed someone walking suspiciously by the river near the church, carrying a bag. His movements caught Victor’s attention, prompting him to call over Brother Amos to take notice as well.

“When he saw them, he threw a black nylon bag into the river, and when they enquired from him what he threw into the river, he said nothing. After many questions that he didn’t answer, they left him and went back but didn’t go into the church.”

Umaru disclosed that the suspect attempted to flee the scene after he was repeatedly asked to open the bag before he was chased down and apprehended in a farm area and before he was handed over to the police, who arrived at the scene just in time.
Ajayi, 32, is currently locked up at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.

On Tuesday, the police paraded him alongside the knife and machetes he used to commit the crime.

Answering to questions in an exclusive interview with Channels TV, he confessed committing the crime, narrating that it wasn’t planned.

“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time, it’s not something I planned. It happened on that day and it happened. Not that I have the plan in mind, she was cheating. She hides most of the things from me most times. I got to know from her phone. I saw her chats with other guys on the phone, that was why I decided.”

Asked if he had any regrets, he said, “I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal that is what I thought, if you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person. You have to understand what that person is going through so that you can actually put yourself in the position that the person is going through, that is why I don’t have any regrets because we were actually compatible.”
