ACTION BEGINS FOR 2024 IKONO IBOM DAY, AS IME EKPO INAUGURATES PLANNING COMMITTEE

The National President, Ikono Ibom Development Union, IIDU performed the brief inauguration ceremony today in Uyo with Mr Augustine Ben as Chairman.
The immediate past President, Ikono Ibom Supreme Youth Council, Comrade Anietie Obot is to serve in the Committee as Secretary while Idara Aniedi Enoch takes the position of the Treasurer.
Other members are Nelson Ubong Effiong, Ukai Dominic Edem, Udeme Monday Akpan, Ubong Sunday Akpan, Enobong Sabbath Inyang and Obong Godwin Eduok.
Obong Ime Ekpo, in a remark shortly after the inauguration charged members of the Committee to see assignment as a call to community service.
He said though membership in the Committee was drawn from existing organisations in the Clan, the members should eschew all differences but work as a team to deliver.
The President charged the Committee to begin work in earnest because, according to him, the Committee had no luxury of time.
Obong Ime Ekpo pledged to support the Committee to achieve it’s mandate, noting that with necessary consultations at appropriate quarters the task would be accomplished.
He outlined the Committee’s terms of reference to include planning a befitting reception for three illustrious indigenes recently elevated in the state and the launch for the completion of the Skill Acquisition Center.
The IIDU National President urged the Chairman of the Committee to remain determined in directing affairs and should not hesitate to replace any member who failed to attend meetings for two consecutive times.
He added that invitation cards for the 2024 Ikono Ibom Day should be out, beginning this month to reach prospective guests.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Mr Augustine Ben, in a remark, expressed his acceptance for the appointment.
Mr Ben solicited the cooperation of the members towards a successful planning and execution of the event.
The Committee is to reconvene Friday October 25.
