Posters promoting a joint 2027 presidential bid by former Kano State governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma, have appeared on social media.
The posters suggested Ganduje, the current national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), would run for president with Uzodinma, the current Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), as his vice-presidential candidate.
Posters with the slogan For Nigerians, prosperity and human capital development suggest that the two prominent politicians will run in the 2027 election under the APC.
This comes amid rumors of a scheme to replace Ganduje as the APC national chairman with an ambassador role, a claim the APC National Working Committee has dismissed as false.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will complete his first term in 2027, has shown through his demeanor, actions, and statements, along with those of his ministers and other key officials, that he intends to seek re-election.
Despite Ganduje’s consistent assertions that President Tinubu would pursue and secure a second term, the emergence of the poster contradicts his statement.
Ganduje responded by labeling the posters as the work of troublemakers and fifth columnists.
According to a report by Daily Trust, Mr. Edwin Olofu, Chief Press Secretary to Ganduje, described it as ridiculous, immature, and extremely mischievous. r>. It’s the work of fifth columnists, those who have aimed from the start to remove him (Ganduje) as the party’s national chairman.
“This deliberate act aims to create discord between him and his brother and leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, they should refrain from further mischief, as President Tinubu will not be swayed by such obvious manipulation.”
