University Lecturer kidnapped by gunmen, abduct his Children
Dr. Tiri Gyan David, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, was tragically killed by bandits in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to reports, the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed Yarima Quarters in the Low-Cost Estate of Dutsinma Local Government Area. They fatally shot Dr. David and subsequently abducted two of his children. The incident sparked panic among residents as the bandits fired shots indiscriminately.
Katsina Police Command spokesperson, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the attack, although a comprehensive statement detailing the incident will be issued by the command later.
The area has witnessed previous incidents of insecurity, including the abduction of students from the university’s off-campus residences. These students were later released following negotiations, with authorities asserting no ransom was paid.
