IWD: NGO Charity For Widows Under Way

The Think Humanity Initiative, a global humanitarian project is billed for take off in Akwa Ibom state. According to a statement in Uyo, the state capital,
“The project which follows the International Widows Day (IWD) celebrated globally on June 23 according to UN calendar, is targeted at impacting the poor and vulnerable class in society.” Mr. Emmanuel Uffot, media officer to HighTower Foundation, hinted in a statement.
“Significantly earmarked for widows and the aged, Think Humanity Initiative is a humanitarian arm of the Dr. Marshall Umoren sponsored HighTower Foundation, a charity- based global agency disposed to the service of humanity,” .
The statement, which revealed the humanitarian agency as exclusive to addressing poverty and the alleviation of suffering amongst the very poor, said it is proposed to touch the lives of many and bring hope to the hopeless.
The statement said the charity project proposed by the US based Foundation would uplift more than 100 vulnerable women, especially widows. It enumerated its poise to also include the distribution of food items, clothing and various seed monies.
The statement indicates that plans are in top gear to notify the public of the first set of its beneficiaries, adding that this follows the compilation of eligible beneficiaries, who would first be drawn from the eleven wards of Ibiono Ibom Council area. The list, according to the release, will cut across partisan lines.
Dr. Marshall Umoren, a medical professional and humanist in politics who operates the humanitarian Foundation, said he is out to give back to society.
The statement which added that the initiative is in clear support of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda, added that it is essentially driven as a human centered and welfares initiative tailored to enhancing the well-being of the nation’s hopeless and her numerous poor.
