The pump price of Automotive Gas Oil, commonly known as diesel, has witnessed a significant drop across Nigeria, thanks to the commencement of sales by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Initially priced at around N1,700 per litre, diesel is now being sold for approximately N1,350 per litre in various locations. The $20 billion refinery, which began pumping diesel into the domestic market last week, has supplied a minimum of one million litres to registered oil marketers.
According to The PUNCH reports, This product is being dispensed to marketers at rates ranging from N1,225 to N1,300 per litre, depending on the purchase volume. According to Abubakar Maigandi, the National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, this move by Dangote Refinery will likely lead to further reductions in diesel prices nationwide. Furthermore, the refinery is expected to begin supplying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the domestic market starting in May.
