When Board of Fidelity Bank Extended Tenure of Group MD/CEO Dr Onyeali – Ikpe to 2026

February 12, 2024 will remain memorable for the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fidelity Bank Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, staffs and her admirers. It was a day the Board of Directors of Fidelity Bank sat, deliberated and resolve to extend the tenure of the CEO Dr Onyeali-Ikpe to 2026 after the expiration of her tenure.
The Company Secretary Ezinwa Unuigboje had conveyed this message on behalf of the Board in a notification sent to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) in Lagos.
He stated that, the decision was taken at the Board’s meeting on February 12, 2024.
According to him, the extension was in furtherance of the bank’s strategic objectives which revolves around the good performance of Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe since her assumption of office on January 1, 2021.
” The Board is confident that the bank’s performance will continue its upward trajectory under Onyeali-Ikpe’s leadership.
” They (Board) also look forward to working closely with her and the executive management team on the execution of various strategic initiatives, including expansion”.
The CEO, who is the first female Managing Director/CEO of Fidelity Bank took over from Mr Nnamdi Okonkwo whose tenure ended on December 31, 2020.
On assumption of office on January 1, 2021 she had outlined a seven point Agenda with focus on, brand architecture, brand building and refresh, talent development and transformation, product and service delivery, agility and performance, discipline, digital transformation and regulatory compliance.
Until her appointment as the MD/ CEO in January 1, 2021 she the Executive Director Lagos and South West Directorate.
Onyeali- Ikpe was appointed into the Board of Fidelity Bank in 2015 to oversee Lagos and South West Directorate.
She has been an integral part of the bank’s management under former MD/CEO Mr Okonkwo.
Ikpe has over 30 years experience across various banks which included Standard Chartered Bank Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Citizens International Bank where she held several management positions in legal, treasury, investment banking, retail/ commercial banking and corporate banking.
