Birmingham police announced on Saturday that the bodies of a young couple from Alabama who went missing on Valentine’s Day were discovered inside their vehicle.
Christian Norris, aged 20, and his girlfriend, Angeliyah Webster, also 20, were last observed on Valentine’s Day when they departed in a white Ford Taurus for a movie date, according to authorities.
The couple were reported missing on Thursday, and their vehicle was located less than 24 hours later. Upon investigation, a man and a woman were found deceased in the car, each with apparent gunshot wounds.
In a press release provided to HuffPost, police stated that preliminary findings suggest both individuals were victims of a homicide. As of Saturday, no suspects were in custody.
Reflecting on his sister’s death, Webster’s brother Demarco Thomas expressed profound sadness, likening it to the sensation of having one’s heart crushed.
An ongoing investigation revealed the grim discovery of the couple’s bodies following another shooting in the vicinity that claimed the lives of four individuals just an hour earlier.
Addressing these tragic events, Police Chief Scott Thurmond described the violence as incomprehensible, while Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin, in a Facebook statement, revealed that one of the missing individuals last seen on Valentine’s Day was his cousin. He condemned the violence as intolerable and distressing, emphasizing the need to confront and prevent such loss.
