Delta State Monarch Asagba of Asaba passes away at 99

According to reports, the esteemed traditional leader of Delta State, HRM Obi Joseph Edozien, known as the Asagba of Asaba, has died.

Edozien, who served as the 13th Asagba of Asaba in the South-South region of Nigeria, passed away on Wednesday while preparations were underway for his 100th birthday celebration.

Born on July 28, 1925, into the esteemed Edozien family, he was a direct descendant of Nnebisi, the founder of Asaba.

His Royal Majesty assumed the role of Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers in 1997. Additionally, former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo honored him with the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) title in 2003.

Furthermore, the Asagba served as the Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
