Financial assistance for further academic pursuit came the way of winners of the just concluded Scripture Champions League as they received a scholarship award cheques from the initiator of the scheme – a renowned philanthropist, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok.
Over sixty beneficiaries out of 238 different winners who earlier on received cash price were presented with the scholarship cheques ranging from N100,000 each in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital at FG/NOVONE Garden Estate on Saturday.
Presenting the Cheques, the founder of the Scripture Champions League Club, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-Etok urged the beneficiaries to ensure the money is use for their academic pursuit and called on them to draw closer to their bible as source of inspiration from God at all times.
He further gave an insight to the winners emerging process which the competitors emerged on merits from thorough bread invigilators with marking schemes during the invigilation.
Nya-Etok, the governorship candidate of ADC in the last election who is also the Progenitor of Social Housing in Nigeria further listed that top 5 winners in the state emerged with a record of 248, 232, 217, 201, 176 as well as top 5 winners in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District with a record of 138, 135. Uyo has a sum of 57, 150, 149, 123, 140 as the figures for their top 5 winners.
Also speaking, the Akwa Ibom State Chapter Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Emmanuel Etim, in his goodwill message thanked Nya-Etok for the initiative which will not only take the children to the bible but will draw them closer to God.
Bishop Etim also thanked the donor for investing in the education of the beneficiary noting that the financial assistance will go a long way in assisting the students to meet up with their academic responsibilities.
“The beneficiaries should not only make judicious use of the money but should also study hard to ensure that they make good grades on graduation to justify the financial assistance they received”. Earlier, the Coordinator of the Scripture Champions League Club, Mr Bassey Uwah while welcoming the participants to the event said the club had a total of 625 contestants, all of which are from different parts of the country.
He said the the participants were drawn from primary, secondary schools as well as the tertiary institutions with a total number of 96 from primary schools, 397 from secondary schools and 432 from tertiary schools.
Responding, one of the beneficiary Master Philip Wonderful Okon thanked the donor and promised that they would study hard to become good Ambassadors of the club as they are growing up in life.
