The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Olumiyiwa Adejobi has read riot acts to drivers who ignore zebra crossings and knock down pedestrians.
He made this known in a released statement today in Abuja, he stated that “It is an offence for you to knock down or hit pedestrians on zebra crossing, many do not have regard for it at all”
” It is compulsory that every driver or biker stops for pedestrians on zebra crossing, whether on green or not, In fact, if you knock down a pedestrian on zebra Crossing, such may be treated as a criminal offence, not just mere a traffic offence’ He stressed.
“Always observe traffic rules to save yourself and others on the road. Be warned” he added.
