The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Gbenga Kolawole for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Adubi in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, in a statement on Friday, said the suspect was apprehended following a report from the victim’s mother.
Odutola disclosed that Kolawole took advantage of the drunk state of the victim, “took her to a nearby bar shop, locked her there and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her” before he was caught in the act by one Sunday Ibrahim.
The statement read, “Following a report from an aggrieved mother that her 16-year-old daughter who got drunk during an annual church year anniversary celebration on November 6, 2023, in Adubi Ogun State, and was taken by her to a nearby bar shop and locked there, became victim to one Gbenga Kolawole “m” 32yrs who had unlawful carnal knowledge of the drunk girl. He was however caught in the act by one Sunday Ibrahim “m” of same address.”
She said the victim was receiving medical attention while the suspect has been arrested
In a separate development, the PPRO disclosed that policemen attached to the Sango Divisional Police Headquarters arrested one Alao James in Ilo Ota, Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State for allegedly stealing a Toyota RAV4 SUV with number plate MUS 580 JA belonging to Elogie Polycarp
Polycap had earlier reported that the vehicle was stolen from a car park in Gbagada, Lagos State.
“All exhibits will be handed over to Gbagada Police Station where the case originated,” she added.
