MILITARY AIRSTRIKES KILL 15 TERRORISTS IN SAMBISA FOREST

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Super Tucano fighter jets have killed 15 Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in Marte Local Council of Borno state.

The terrorists were neutralised at the bombardments of hideouts in Chikun, Gudu and Jibularam, Kwalaram, and Arinna Ciki on July 9 and 10, 2023.

A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Malam Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Wednesday), in Maiduguri that an intelligence-led aerial mission was launched against the four hideout camps in the region.

According to him, an early damage assessment from the four scenes confirmed the successful aerial operations to that killed over a dozen terrorists.

Military sources also stated that some of the yet to be identified commanders, were neutralised, while others fled with serious burns.

Similarly, airstrikes were also launched at Talala in the southeast axis of Sambisa Forest.

“The successful military airstrikes were made, after receiving intelligence of terrorists moving in a convoy of seven motorcycles,” said Makama, adding that six bodies were sighted during the clearance operations of ground troops.

Sources also confirmed that the fighter jets conducted aerial surveillance of 12 terrorists’ camps and sighted them in a convoy of seven gun trucks and motorcycles.

“But on sighting the terrorists in the Timbuktu triangle, the terrorists fled from the scene and hide under nearby trees to avoid being spotted,” he said.

The Chief of  Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Hassan Bala Abubakar, also directed all Operational Commanders to sustain the tempo of military decisiveness against the terrorists.
