Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state, has appealed to the Federal Government to urgently intervene in the water and electricity supply projects in the State.
According to him, the water and power projects, are critical in providing an enabling environment deliver services in the health, education, housing and agricultural sectors.
Buni’s Spokesman, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, disclosed, yesterday (Wednesday), in Damaturu that the Governor visited the Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG), Senator George Akume to discuss areas of cooperation and intervention on critical capital projects.
He lamented the wash off of some roads with the break-up of their bridges during last year’s floods in communities, including the ones in the border areas of Niger.
He listed the capital projects to include the Damaturu and Fika regional and council water supply projects among other critical capital projects in the State.
The SFG, therefore, assured the Governor that Government will look into the critical capital projects to improve the living conditions of people.
“I assured you of the commitments of the Bola Tinubu administration of working on the same page for the benefit of the people,” he said.
While complementing Government’s efforts, Buni met with the Organised Private Sector (OPS) on the proposal of establishing agro-allied industries in each of the three senatorial districts.
He said the industries and other agricultural processing firms, should have comparative advantages in the production of various cash crops for industrial uses and exports.
“The State government will establish an industrial village park with installed facilities for water and electricity supplies, banks, a fire service station and police outposts.”
