The trio of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and Board Member of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan will win various categories of awards at the National Daily’s Awards ceremony set to hold this weekend. Trek Africa Newspaper can report that Gov. Sanwo-Olu will win the Innovation and Infrastructure Governor of the Year, IGP Usman Alkali Baba will win Man of the Year award, and Dr. Ayo Ogunsan will win the Excellence in Leadership and Service award.
In his first four years in office, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has achieved milestone gains in all six frontiers covered under his T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda. This is despite the challenges which came with the Covid-19 pandemic.
He embarked on the construction and rehabilitation of roads such as the Lekki-Epe road, completed the Agege Pen-cinema bridge, competed the rebuilding of the Lekki-Epe expressway with a rigid pavement solution, completed the Blue Rail Line project and purchased trains with the capacity of 500,000 passengers per day, LAGFERRY now operates on 21 boats and has been able to ferry over 500,000 passengers between February 2020 and March 2022.
In housing, Trek Africa Newspaper can report that Gov. Sanwo-Olu completed and commissioned 120 units Courtland Villas, Igbokushu, Lekki; handed over apartments’ keys to 492 beneficiaries of the Lateef Kayode Jakande Housing Estate, Igando; completed 360 housing units at Igbogbo in Ikorodu; and completed 660 housing units at Odo-Onosa-Ayandelu Housing Scheme in Agbowa LCDA. Under his charge, the Imota Rice Mill with a capacity to produce 2.8 million bags of 50kg bags of rice yearly while generating 1,500 direct jobs and 254,000 indirect jobs was commissioned while the multimillion dollar Lekki Free Trade zone with its numerous possibilities was also commissioned.
On his part, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has led a Nigerian Police which has demonstrated competence, capacity, and civility in its term of duty to the Nigerian citizenry.
The just-concluded 2023 general elections is a testament to the efforts of the IGP to improve election security in Nigeria. IGP Alkali Baba has completed the construction of over 198 projects including more than 120 modern police stations, barracks, and other vital police buildings around the country to ensure improved working conditions for more effective and efficient service delivery.
Trek Africa Newspaper recently reported that IGP Alkali Baba will in partnership with Lagos State Government undertake a renovation and redevelopment of 25 major Police barracks in Lagos. This underscores the IGP’s staunch commitment to improving welfare of police officers and men.
For the Chairman of Executive Group and Board Member of LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, he has proven to be a consummate administrator and bureaucrat per excellence whose impact is felt in partnership for improved security, community policing, and leadership development in Lagos and by extension, Nigeria.
Trek Africa Newspaper can affirm that the boardroom czar, Ogunsan is an influential higher education consultant renowned for organising training for executives in higher institutions. He also has a track record in sales administration, financing, investment development, training, security and project management.
