The Commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), Abu Muhammed has executed his deputy over troops’ torching of hideout camps in Mukdolo and Bone villages in Borno state.
The Deputy Commander, Abu Darda was executed by the angry Muhammed, along with other fighters in Kajeri Dogumba village of Mafa Local Council.
A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri that Darda was executed for enabling the military operations into their hideout camps in Mukdolo and Bone communities.
According to him, the joint military operations also led to the killing of 41 terrorists including Abu-Zahra Munzir.
On the execution of Darda, a military source in Maiduguri, disclosed that he was accused of leading a failed attack of Sunday, March 19, 2023 on Mafa community, 40 kilometres east of Maiduguri.
The source added that the failed attack led to the killing of scores of terrorists, with the capture of two gun trucks.
“They had only three trucks but Darda’s failure led to their capture by the military,” he said.
He noted that he couldn’t watch his back as the military traced his footsteps to attack them in their camp while they were sleeping.
The Commander said he was particularly pained because the military killed scores of his fighters, burnt his food stuff and some newly acquired furniture meant for his wedding soon.
The Commander, however, vowed to mobilize his fighters at Kajeri Dogumba and Bula Yagana Aliye in Mafa local council of the state.
