I am not neutral in this Lagos election. I have a party and that is APC, and will encourage my family and friends in Lagos to vote APC.
I am certainly not happy with the Buhari Federal government because of running the government on his own personal agenda and not the APC philosophy and ideology.
I am certainly very bitter about that , but that will not make me to turn to PDP or Labour or any other party at all. If Buhari got it all wrong, that does not preclude that his successor will go the same wrong route.
I understand the plight of people who had hoped on previous governments, but whose hope was wickedly dashed. But must not lead them to vituperate on others who have different opinion from their’s, especially on this election of Lagos.
Lagos had been built by Yoruba from the time of Awolowo, through Jakande etc, bar the military governance, who actually plummeted the economy of Lagos before it was rebuilt by Yoruba political party politicians.
Politics is largely about identity. English will always want English to rule England. If the current Asian prime minister was to stand a national election, your guess is as good as mine.
I still remember the English slogan of the Thatcher time – “who will allow a Welsh man to rule us in England”.
Neil Kinnock, a Welsh man and leader of Labour was leading in the polls and was hoping to win, untill the morning of election when English votes returned the conservative government. (People are quick to compare and pretend all about Western politics was perfect and devoid of ethnic identity. They are wrong)
He who runs the political power runs the economy of the state. It is the man at the helm of affairs that provides the enabling environment for social and economic activities to occur. Lagos in largely built on the mandates of Yorubas
political power since the Action Group to UPN to SDP (a little to the left), AD to AC to ACN etc and not on the business man. Political will attracts investments of all sorts.
I shall not throw away my heritage. I shall not sit on the fence when marauders come to my land and attempt to take over the political control of my homeland. Nobody to get me wrong, i am not saying i am 100% happy with current Lagos government, but i prefer to retain, in perpetuity, the political control of Lagos in the hands of proper Yoruba. I shall continue to fight the system from within and not team up with any late night marauders to destroy the socio-economic fabrics of my heritage.
This is where I personally stand. This is my constitutional right.
