ARMY REPELS ISWAP ATTACK, KILLS 10 TERRORISTS IN BORNO

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have repelled the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) attack on Kunnari village near Buratai town in Borno state.

The Boko Haram terrorists also torched the Tukur Buratai Institute of War (TBIW) in January, 2022.

The terrorists were said to have stormed the Buratai military base on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 3am.

A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri that the ISWAP terrorists came in trucks and motorcycles, shooting sporadically.

“The swift response of the troops with superior firepower forced the terrorists to flee in disarray,” he said.

According to him, the troops overwhelmed the terrorists in a gun battle and eliminated eight of them. while others fled the scene.

Besides, he added that the soldiers chased the terrorists into their escape route and intercepted two others.

The insurgents were trying to fix their motorcycle after it broke down and gun them down.

He said that a soldier was however injured in the course of operation.
