The Country Director of the Mercy Corps, Ndubisi Anyanwu has said that humanitarian assistance, healthcare and conflict resolutions have been rendered to three million people in Nigeria.
According to him, the humanitarian intervention was to build the resilience of conflict affected communities in the Northeast, North Central and North West regions of the country.
Anyanwu disclosed these, yesterday (Saturday), in his 2022 Newsletter to journalists in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
“The various interventions in the health, agriculture, finance, job creation sectors are to solve complex challenges of the vulnerable people affected by conflicts since 2012,” he said.
Continued; “We’ve built on our rich heritage of work in over 42 countries, including the 10-year impacts on over three million beneficiaries in Nigeria by implementing various programmes in 12 states.
“Mercy Corps is building the country where everyone is empowered, secured and resilient.”
According to him, the Corps’ team has worked in the Northeast, North Central, North West and Southern regions with the implementation of programmes on peace building, conflict, humanitarian responses, livelihoods support, youth empowerment and education.
Awards of recognitions were also given to the Corps’ team members, who have worked with the organization, including the attendance of Mukhtari Shitu, the conflict programme specialist for the USAID/Nigeria.
He said that during the commemoration ceremony of December 16, 2022, it was for the organisation to reflect on the successes and experiences recorded over time.
