The Borno State pilgrims to Israel and Jordan are to pray for a peaceful and credible 2023 general elections in Nigeria.
According to the pilgrims, it was an opportunity for the Church to pray for peace during the forthcoming elections in the country.
While leading the 101 pilgrims, over the weekend (Sunday), at the holy sites in Jordan, Rev. John Bakeni, the auxiliary Bishop of Maiduguri Catholic Dioceses, disclosed: “Governor Babagana Zulum is dedicated to the building of faith by sponsoring 101 persons for the 2023 Christian pilgrimage in Israel and Jordan.”
He said that participation of Christians in the pilgrimage would enable them to renew their faith in the worship of God.
Besides he noted that pilgrims could also walk in the path of Jesus Christ.
He, therefore, urged them to make the best use of the opportunity and consider themselves as pilgrims instead of tourists in the two countries.
“I commend our Governor for giving all of us this wonderful opportunity of renewing our faith,” he said, adding that Zulum provided the resources to enable the pilgrims to realize spiritual growth and commitments.

The former Head of Service (HOS), Simon Malgwi, also congratulated the Borno pilgrims for making it to the holy land.
Malgwi noted that having read a lot of things from the Bible, including the privileges to visit the holy, his faith has been strengthened.
He added that the pilgrims that witnessed those things written in the holy book, would return to testify to those who had not visited Jerusalem for the pilgrimage.
According to him, those things in the Bible were not fiction, but reality.
“My eyes have seen, my hands have touched and even my legs have walked on those things said in the Bible,” said Ayuba Dawa, stating that he is happy to be here in Jerusalem for the pilgrimage.
Other pilgrims thanked the State government for providing opportunities to embark on the annual pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel.
They also prayed for the good health and wisdom of the Governor, while steering the affairs of the State.
