Entries to this year edition of annual UBA Foundation National Essay Competion meant for Senior Secondary students will end this Friday October 14, 2022.
According to the modalities of the Entries for the education based programme of the Pan- African Bank, applicants were required to submit their complete personal information which include, name, age, school, address of school, telephone, residential and email.
Other requirements for application were attached photocopies of their original birth of certificate or international passport data page and uploading of a handwritten Essay on the portal.
According to the criteria for selection of entries, applicants must be a senior secondary school student in Nigeria, must submit a handwritten essay of maximum of 750 words, must submit a scanned copy of their Birth Certificate, National ID or International Passport as well as a passport photograph.
The bank listed the selection procedure as follows, that entries received for the competition will be reviewed by a distinguished panel of judges made up of Professors from reputable Nigerian Universities who will then shortlist 12 essays for further assessment.
After the shortlist, a second round of the competition will involve the 12 finalists who will be required to write a second supervised essay from which three best essays will be selected as tge overall winners from these 12 finalists that emerged from the first round of the competition.
For the prize tag for this year edition of the National Essay Competition which a total sum of N10.5million worth of educational grant is up for graps by the 3 finalists, overall winner will go home with N5million worth of educational grant to study in any African University of their choice, while the first and second runners- up will cart home N3million and N2.5million worth of educational grant respectively. Like the winner, the grant will enable them study in any African University of their choice.
The Topic for the 2022 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition is : ASUU strike have often lost Nigerian students time. Advise the Nigerian Government on how they can reach an agreement with ASUU to improve tertiary education In the country’.
