A Nigerian lecturer and one other have been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command on Saturday, for assaulting a 20-year-old lady in the state.
Fred Ekpe Ayokhai, who is a senior lecturer with the department of History and International Studies, at Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA), and his children sparked outrage on social media over the treatment meted on a young girl.
The lecturer, on Friday, was captured flogging the 20-year-old girl who allegedly beat his daughter over a man.
The victim identified as Blessing Mathias, confronted Ayokhai’s daughter, Emmanuella Onawegie, for trying to snatch her boyfriend, as seen in a video posted on Twitter by @Sanchezbig17.
Blessing had discovered Emmanuella had been engaging in a private conversation with her boyfriend and demanded that his contact be deleted from her phone but the latter refused, which led to a fight.
In the video making the rounds online, Emmanuella was seen alongside her father, Ekpe Ayokhai, and other family members mercilessly beating Blessing in her home before she was forced into their car.
In another viral video posted by Twitter user, @Sanchezbig17, the lecturer and his children could be seen assaulting the 20-year-old lady.
She was stripped naked, battered with sticks, and her clothes cut with scissors by her abusers who drove her to the middle of a bush.

Reacting to the viral video, a tweep, Jeff called for justice to be served over the inhumane act carried out in Lafia, Nassarawa state capital.
“@NAS_PoliceNG @PoliceNg @SERAPNigeria @NhrcNigeria this inhumane act is said to have happened In Lafia, Nasarawa state where a father and his male kids and female kids did this to a girl and no justice yet ,” he wrote.
Another tweep, Aijay_A said: “This is disturbing and very upsetting to watch. Where is @PoliceNG”
@oba_vawulence wrote: “the girl no get family? she no get brothers?”
@jewelthagreat, on his part, said: “I don’t understand when you guys come up with statements like “they went too far”. Do you mean they were suppose to get involved in something like that in the first place? Or they should have harassed her a little bit? Make una no dey tweet all these nonsense.”
@okgentlewealth said they took the rift too far. “Dey took it so far in the sense that,d family could have gone to the right authorities or choose to make the gal kneel down nd beg d first victim,den bringing settlement and peace back to d old friendship,help dem settle their differences,but no dey decided to take it way too far.”
In a statement, the Nasarawa State Police Command said investigation had commenced into the matter.
“It is gratifying to state that, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the case while the vehicle used in conveying the victim to an undisclosed location where she was assaulted has been recovered.
“Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at large,” the tweet read.
