The response of Ayodele Fayose, a former Governor of Ekiti State and Peoples Democratic Party heavyweight, at the inauguration of Abiodun Oyebanji, as the new governor of the state, has sparked reactions on social media.
A video of the former Governor’s speech on the sidelines of the inauguration of Abiodun Oyebanji, who is an APC member, was shared on a Twitter page ‘Ekiti Trends’.
During the inauguration, one of the journalists asked Fayose about claims that he worked with the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) to steal the previous governorship election in the state; to which Fayose responded that, “Ekiti State is more important than political parties.”
“Because the APC survived my tenure as governor, it doesn’t matter who is in charge now.
“Still, it’s critical that we adjust our expectations by keeping in mind that there must be a victor and a vanquished. I support Ekiti and will always be there for her, regardless of whether others recognize or acknowledge my efforts.
“My name is Ayo Fayose, and I have nothing to apologize for.”
Unconvinced, the journalist pressed on to PDP strongman’s thoughts on allegations that he was working with the APC.
The former Governor, after keenly listening to the question, responded: “I do not answer foolish questions.“
The video which is trending on social media has garnered reactions from Nigerians on Twitter.
@ademulegun_femi, in his response to the clip, said: “Honestly, some journalists here in Ekiti need proper fine tuning and brushing up to do especially when it comes to asking a very controversial question.
“How can you ask ” Does your presence here affirms the allegation?”..which Kain question be that.
“He has already told him why he was there, the guy should have left the question at just asking him to clarify the allegations, the man was apparently getting ready to do that until that indeed foolish question. The guy mess up jare”
Ayomidele_Praise who found Fayose’s response funny wrote: “… I am from ekiti too we don’t answer foolish questions.”
