The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential women campaign team, has donated N20 million and food items to victims of floods in Yobe state.
The donated funds and food are to cushion the devastating effects of floods in over 250 communities in the state.
Distributing the relief materials, at the weekend (Thursday), in Damaturu, the wife of the APC presidential candidate, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, disclosed: “We’ll continue to identify and assist the victims of natural and man-made disasters in the country.”
She noted that as mothers of the nation; they are also to support the less privileged in society.
Besides, she added that the women presidential campaign team was to commiserate with the flood victims in affected communities across the state.
She, therefore, lamented the destruction of many houses and farmlands along the Kumadugu-Yobe River.
“The donations are for 400 identified flood victims,” she said, adding that each of them is to get N50, 000 to reactivate their small scale businesses destroyed in the recent floods.
Food and non-food items were also presented to the victims through the Yobe state government.
Responding, Governor Mai Mala Buni commended the presidential women campaign team for the visit to donate funds and other food items to the state government.
“These donations will bring succour to the victims and restore their livelihoods in the affected communities,” he said.
The presidential campaign team also visited the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-Kanemi to commiserate the monarch over the recent death of his son, Abba Sadiq Shehu Hashimi.
