The Yobe State Primary Health Care Management Board (YPHMB) in partnership with State’s Mobilisation and Community Engagement (MCE) has embarked on sensitization against measles and other child-killer diseases.
Flagging off the sensitization, yesterday (Thursday), in Damaturu, MCE’s Chairperson, Hajiya Husna Ibrahim disclosed that measles outbreaks call for immediate action to save children’s lives.
According to her, the perennial outbreaks of measles require immediate action to halt its spread during the heat waves across the state.
She, therefore, appealed to stakeholders and health workers to fight against measles that claims a lot of children’s lives in communities.
She lamented the measles outbreak reports with the State Government’s healthcare delivery system in 178 wards.
“We’ve held a collaborative planning meeting to develop an activity plan towards curtailing the spread of measles,” she said.
She stated that key messages have been developed for the prevention of the hot weather disease.
